I have wondered about this , I have a hori hori I never leave it on site or out of my sight and it's safely tucked away when leaving the plot . It's an incredible tool and have wondered why I haven't seen one being used on Gardeners'World !

Saw this story online about an allotment gardener arrested for possession of an offensive weapon.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/jul/28/man-allotment-gardening-tools-arrest-armed-police-manchester

QuoteA man who had returned home from his allotment with a trug of vegetables and gardening tools strapped to his belt was arrested by armed police, after a member of the public said they had seen "a man wearing khaki clothing and in possession of a knife".

Well I have some tiny beans on my Gigantes this am, a lot of blossom drop too but the heat has been horrendous here for weeks, I do have a butterfly garden nearby which also brings the bees so the beans which of course are runners need them.

Those parcels were fun, well apart from the one that became toast  well apart from the 2 that didn't make it.

Yes, I do still have all types, but misremembered.  They are Spanish, not French.

I shall for one be very happy to receive your land cress seeds. I was just this week reflecting on the fact that for a few years I'd relied on land cress to self-seed but that it now seems to have finally died out, and all my saved seed is old now.
And the Ipomoea and Viola much looked forward to too.

Glad you still have those, too, Galina. As I always g row  ordinary runner beans for the pods, I only grow the Spanish ones for the dried beans for use in the winter in soups etc.  They're so meaty.  I hope you still have three different coloured flowers and three different coloured beans?

Glad you still like them, Peanuts, and glad they are still thriving with you. Your return gift, those great heat resistant French runnerbeans are also still in regular use here in the garden.  Good for pods, good for fat beans and pretty to look at.
