I have tried the last few days to get a billhook as I want to lay the hedge on one side of my allotment, nobody seems to sell them nowadays, I suppose this is the 'nanny state' at work again. I even done the rounds of the boot sales this this morning.

By the way I am a new boy to this forum but have owned several allotments over the years, so hello to everybody. Nice site so keep up the good work.

Or old-fashioned ironmongers in country towns?

Dugdales in Skipton are amazing; but that's cos they're near enough for me to go out with the kids one day, and get what I need - got a scythe from them, and they've been great at getting spare parts for the bits I've managed to break.

For anybody else nearby - contact details on http://www.dugdales-electrical.co.

All best - Gavin
