I've planted 6 rows each of Sarpo Mira and Sapro Axona. Kept a record of which was which on my iPhone. Trouble is I had to restore my iPhone which deleted all my records... I know, backup! It didn't delete anything when I jailbroke it so I didn't think it would when I un-jailbroke it.

Anyway, the foliage is quite distinguishable between the two so how do I know which is which? If anyone growing these two could have a look and let me know I'd very much appreciate it.

Many thanks.

I did, but I can't remember any differences between the foliage of those, Mira had purple flowers, and I think Axona had paler ones.........if they are not yet flowering that isn't going to help much eh! Undecided

They are all in flower however I've pulled them all off  Angry

One type seem to have slightly more red in the stems and the other a slightly more silver sheen to the leaf. It's no big deal, I just wanted to be able to compare flavours knowing which was which. I'll just have to wait until next year or let a few flowers regrow.

Thanks anyway to you both.

Tastewise, I have to say I wasn't impressed with either, hence not growing them again this year. I prefer to go with the Mayan types, Mayan Twilight and Mayan Gold this year. Their folige seem to be more resistant to blight because they are a different variety closer to the original South American potatoes, they resisted really well in 2007 when everything else was wiped out, and they taste very buttery....yum! Thank you very much Deb. Another variety added to my 'to-get' list for next year.

I went to the plot today and see that both types had a few flowers on. If there is a difference my old eyes can't see it  Cry
