Love this question/thread Ricado. We really enjoy planning a four season harvest from our plot - green or stored. Tend not to freeze vegetables if we can preserve them in some other way. Crops in the open ground seem to do very well under mesh tunnels here, and it seems to stop them getting that tired, dirty look at the back end of the year. And keeps the pigeons off!

With a greenhouse for the first time this year, :D we'll be trying out winter crops of:

Corn Salad
Parsley
Rocket
Oriental veg for saladings
Lettuce
Spring Onion
Pea Sprouts

Love the idea of 'new' potatoes and carrots too, perhaps next year.

We are lucky to have a cool cellar in my flats, where we store:

Beetroot, Golden and Forono
Carrot Flakee
Dried beans
Winter squash
Onions
Garlic

We don't grow or eat that many potatoes, so I buy a sack from the farmer here in the Fens when I need some.
Not sure how best to preserve tomatoes this year - will be asking advice in August!
