Hello! Nice to meet you all. What a lovely site! And what fun the competition will be! In 2004, my dad (he's 91 now!), my daughter and I had a 'giant pumpkin race'. None of us had ever 'pumpkinned' before and we only grew the 'Hallowe'en-sized' type and the best was a mere 14lb. Last year we thought a bit bigger - two more 'competitors' joined and we sowed 'Mammoth' seeds. I only have a tiny veg. patch now but was delighted to win with a lovely specimen that weighed exactly 70lb. (I do have a photo of it, being ridden by one of my grandsons, and will try to get one of my computer-literate family members to post it on the site some time!) Happy growing - and thank you for having me aboard!
I think I may have gate-crashed your party. I don't have an allotment!!! Didn't mean to break the rules - just got swept along with all the enthusiasm. Not very bright, am I? I'll enjoy watching from the sidelines! Best wishes.
