After having the cataract op on both eyes recently I had to go for final check up today. I can now drive again and I only need glasses for reading. That's what I call a result.
fab news for the new year!
Fantastic news :)
Great news! :D
That's brilliant news, Laura! Happy driving! xxx
How good is that. I bet you feel a great sense of freedom now Lorna.
What a great way to start 2012. There'll be no stopping you now Lorna ;D.
Sorry I called you Laura, Lorna - one of my many senior moments! xxx
Excellent news Lorna! I'm delighted for you. :)
My mother had a cataract op on one eye (she was 89 at the time). When she had the bandages removed she was amazed at how the colours of many things appeared. Not what she was expecting but life was suddenly bright and cheerful again!!
My father also had one eye operated on - his long site vision has always been good but now he can read small print better than me so enjoys newspapers again.
(At 96 he is not driving anymore. He wasn't happy when told he must stop but I was more than relieved. ;) )
Brilliant news -very pleased for you ;D
So glad it has gone well for you Lorna.
Wonderful news Lorna. Really really happy to read this 8)
Thank you everyone, although the children have been wonderful it is nice to get back my independence. As I have told some friends only downside as far a I can make out is that the craters/wrinkles on my face seem so much deeper.now looking for a cheap barrow load of cosmetic filler lol
Yes colours do seem so much brighter!
;D
But what I loved was when I went swimming - the water seemed so clear and sparkly!
On the down side..........I relised I needed to decorate and that someone had slipped a load more wrinkles onto me whilst I wasn't looking! :-\
Excellent news, Lorna..so glad you have your independence back ;D
So pleased for you Lorna, that is brilliant news, i shall ring you to find out what it was like to have done.
After the funeral of course.
Something nice to read :) So glad for you, Lorna - now go enjoy your independence! ;D
This is very good news, Lorna. I am so pleased that everything went well. :-*
Very pleased for you. :)
When I get my new reading glasses I really must buy one of those chains/cords
that you put round your neck to hold your glasses. I am using my old ones at the moment and I keep forgetting where I have put the flipping things ;D
I'm resisting the chained up approach... but have to wear my glasses all of the time so less of an issue now the children aren't young enough to move them when I'm asleep!
I'm really pleased ti was such a success... :)

When I was working the cord round the neck seemed a good solution to specs knocked on the floor and up the cleaner's hoover!! But... children weren't happy when I forgot to put the specs on my nose leaving the glasses to wham into the backs of their necks as I bent over to read their work. ::)
These days I have spare pairs of reading glasses all over the place....even in the cabbage patch on the allotment. (Must look for those next time I'm down there). ;D

But don't you need a pair of glasses to find the glasses in the cabbage patch! :P

I have got to break the habit of 40 years plus. Usual routine, (my glasses are always on my bedside cabinet as I always read before going to sleep) I put my glasses on make a cuppa then turn TV on to watch the news. Yesterday I did the old routine and wondered why the TV picture was blurry!!

Very true.. or to go down the stairs in! Can't see a thing clearly if it's more than arms length away and I have the specs on.
My
bad habit, Lorna, is keeping my reading glasses in my shirt pocket and forgetting. I then lean over and out they slide often without me noticing.... hence the cabbage patch pair. ::)
Good luck with your new found freedom. ;)
