Excellent 'Gardener'.  What do you do with it in the summer? Looks like all spring stuff there to me.

Wish I could get my front garden looking better. It is mostly grass (nb grass not lawn). sloping with a border down each side and drive made of grey slabs down the middle. It has resisted attempts to beautify it thus far.

What a lovely garden - as Eileen says, please let us see another photo when all the bulbs are out.

One question - do you lift your bulbs to make way for summer plants.  I find that where I have alot of spring bulbs it is very difficult finding space for my summer plants without damaging the spring bulbs.  Like me, you look as if you like very full flower beds, so just wondered.  I remember seeing on a gardening programme that a good way to plant summer bulbs was to put them in baskets buried in the ground in order that they can be removed easily once they have flowered.  What are your views on this, do you think it is a good idea?  Hope you don't mind all these questions ::)

To answer your questions;

Richard; If you look to the centre of the bed you will see some clusters of light green growth, and behind them some dark green clumps.

The dark clumps are Oriental poppies so they will be next to flower. The light green is Hemerocallis, so they fill the bed and flower all summer long.

Along the wall edge I generally shove in some annuals to brighten it up.

Patricia; No I dont lift them, or at least very rarely do I lift them.
About every four or five year I blitz the bed, pulling everything out and resetting it, thinning everything down in the process.

This bed is in shade for most of the day, i.e. the house is south of the bed, so I only get a bit of sunshine in the morning.
