« on: December 06, 2010, 08:05:18 »
Any excuse to put the price up! It's a bit early to harvest for xmas anyway.

Which reminds me what is the most popular wine at xmas.

I don't like sprouts ;D

Oh loves them but Possum and I hate them.  I've tried doing them well done, medium, rare, or slightly crunchy if your prefer, boiled, steamed, sautéed, plain, with cream and nutmeg, with bacon bits, with cumin, with caraway.

They're just awful any which way.

I am in the "hate 'em" camp... (same as marmite!)

Though cooked in with the carrots, they are just about edible, as the carrots sweeten them...  I was always told to eat one on Christmas day, to show "willing" and I now seem to carry on this tradition despite me and the OH hating them!!!

The checkout assistants never seem to think it odd when I go through the checkout with TWO sprouts!!!

when I had a vegetarian curry at The Ruby Murray in Westbury on Trim, they put sprouts in it  :o

anyway a sprout is just a cabbage with no ambition

I like some while some are awful.  I tend to taste a bit in the shop to see if they are bitter or not.  I do not buy sealed packets.

Maximus are advertised as being bitter free.  If sprouts are bitter then nothing will cover this up.  But frozen ones are awful.  No way of knowing whether the packet contains sweet or bitter ones.

I don't like cabbage at all and only a few varieties of oranges and apples.  Very fussy eater me.

Sprouts and marmite now that is an interesting thought.

Marmite on toast, very nice. Bread and butter and marmite and tomato sandwiches, brill. We are never without marmite (strange word when one types it and looks at the spelling). Bovril is good too.  Sprouts with dinner two days running, big bag for 50p (Morrisons) the ones I grew last year all blown.

Love sprouts - and, surprisingly, it's the favourite green veg. of my three grandsons.

(If my dear old mum was still around I'm sure there would be a pot of them boiling away on her hob now - to be ready for dinner on Christmas Day!)
