Filter Box Leaking

Why does it leak from the sides? Any ideas anyone? Have I got it too high above the pond, too low?
(doesn't need cleaning out cos it does it even after I have cleaned it!)
Ideas gratefully received!
Thanks

If i understand what your saying:
Does the water enter the filter quicker than it exit's?
Try turning the pump down or putting some bends, y's or t-pieces to slow it down.

Thanks for the reply Neil, I can't turn the pump down, and have no idea if it enters faster than it exits!
so will try some "s" bends to try and slow the upflow, good idea!

or you you could try helping the filter empty quicker.
Take out some of the filter pads, just to see if this helps.
If the hose is going into the pond try positioning out of the pond, this will add oxygen to the water and flow quicker.

It sounds like you need to raise it up.
Does the pump have a 'head' rating?
This is the maximum height that the pump can pump to.
If you have your filter box raised nearer to this height, then the water flowing through it will reduce.
The amount flowing over the sides will reduce.
The other problem could be that your exit pipe is too small.
This should be at least 1.5 inches.

if you have a pipe coming off the outlet, make sure the top of the box is higher than the pipe outlet !
