simple question that i'm sure to you guys wont be any sweat to answer...
I'm thinking of raising my beds! do i have to top up each bed with topsoil or will the level of the saoil rise over time?

you should add new soil when making a raised bed, if you dont build it up with new soil nothing changes in a way ;)
when i did mine i did 2 parts top soil to one part compost

The levels will rise over time as you add your homemade compost or manure (not home made :o) ) ;D
The levels will raise a bit anyway if you double dig the beds.
You can also lower the paths, putting the soil on the beds.
