Where can I buy chilli plants from?
« on: May 06, 2008, 17:18:37 »
Hi does anyone know where can I buy chilli plants from?
I'd like some of the more unusual one, Habaneros or nagas.
Cheers

Where they do plants they say so?

Certainly Habeneros in the catalogue. But you may be a bit late for this year - chillies are a long term plant.

Simpsons sell quite a few varieties as plants

There is also : http://www.plantconnection.co.uk/organic_vegetables/997_0c.html?source=gaw&gclid=CJqBufiilJMCFRqj1QodmmF_fQ

The South Devon Chilli Farm might be worth a call..

http://www.southdevonchillifarm.co.uk/index.php?page=contact-us

Finally, I would have thought there's still time to grow from seed especially if you can bring the plant indoors in the autumn.

Plantconnection's a useful link.

Chillifarm? Thought they only did processed things?

I would say much too late for normal growing but, as suggested, grow on in warmth into the winter.

Hi Tim. They grow their own plants for seed, so I reckon around about now they'll know whether  they have a surplus of germinated seedlings and might be willing to part with some. Just an idea  :)

I wonder if there are any quick fruiting varieties other than  Early Jalapeno.

I think a lot depends on the varieties and where you live - last year many  of my chillies were outside , unfleeced until November, but I'm in London which is generally good for an extra 2-3 degC over the surrounding country.

Called in at the South Devon Chilli Farm  last week, they do sell plants  ,but you have to wait until June. Well they had one plant but not anymore( Royal Black) hope it's not too hot.

Cherry Bomb is wonderful Cam-hotish but not too hot, stuff them with Monteray Jack cheese or some similar melting chese and deep fry.

Due to unforseen circumstances I`m not growing them this year but I am thinking of a return present next year for the curry leaves?-Well maybe a few seeds

The Dorset Naga is no longer the holder of the world record,

Bhut Jolokia is now the hottest, some 3 times hotter!
I've got one in my greenhouse now fruiting.  :D
