Hmmmm onion seedling seem to have died
« on: March 02, 2008, 10:20:47 »
Not sure why but could be damping off has caused most of my onion seedlings to die.

They were transplanted into 3 inch pots to grow on in the greenhouse.

Ahhh well, you live and learn, just glad I have 250 sets to plant.

They may have been too wet?

At least you have lots of sets to go at ;)
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

Have you had a firkle? If damping off you should find some mouldy bits... if not a neatly munched onion stalk... just because there are no slime trails doesn't mean you haven't been mollusced!

I've spent nearly a week hunting for a slimeball. Got it in the end. Only a tiny snail but probably grew too big to crawl back through the holes in the crate.

Gardening is not a game - its a war.
