The garden that we are transforming at the moment has some steep banks in places and the owner was proudly showing some of her house guests around the grounds when she slipped down a slope. One of her guests is a doctor and as she was complaining of twisting her ankle he examined her on the spot.
He said it is more serious than a sprain, and would not let her hobble back to the house which was about 400 metres away. Then after quickly tying my cape on and slipping my Y- fronts over my jeans I come to the rescue with the mini tractor and trailer. Taking it very slowly and shouting NEE NAW, NEE NAW, NEE NAW, I got her up to the car and away to hospital.
She had broken her leg in two places, so it had to be pinned and plastered up.
Now I am not just her clever charming gardener, I am a hero. How much do you think I should put on the bill?
