I want to grow some early potatoes which I can use for salad/mashed/roasting but don't know much about varieties. My favourite potatoes are king edward are their any earlies that are similar in flavour and more importantly texture?

Have a look at the Tuckers web site:
http://www.edwintucker.com/Seeds/seeds%20index.htm
This is a list of varities and their cooking qualities and uses, it might help you find somehting you like.
Homeguard might be an option.
