Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Kea, don't have an allotment myself but do have an allotment sized veg patch in my garden (Bit of an amateur though!). Just trying to set up something successful as the allotments were derelict up until last year and its such a huge improvement to see everything growing there now and see the site looking so tidy - I want it to stay like that and to encourage people! Water board are actually paying to put mains water in as they wanted to site a booster on some of our land so I managed to arrange a you scratch my back kind of thing!!! I had wondered about the ballcock trough sort of idea but then someone said about the possibility of someone drowning which put me off a bit! Will look into this more! Ta!
