3. We've used a 4hp Wolesley Merrytiller for 40 years for the 'groundbreaking' stuff.
4. Wih the onset of age, we now use a Honda FG 201  - http://www.mower-magic.co.uk/acatalog/HONDA_FG201_Tiller.html - for all general work.

 I can carry it, rather than fix wheels. Just broke up this Potato patch & turned in 4 loads of manure in under 5 mins.

Tried Mantis, but find it more suited to 'garden' work.

I brought the electric one from Lidl earlier in the year - it's great, turns over even lawn as long as you have taken the turf off.  Small, light weight, easy to use and cost £40.  Going to try using it on the allotment with my generator as there is no power up there but perfect for the patch at home.

Yes, they're great. Even use it to loosen soil between rows for earthing up.

One reservation: if you have heavy clay soil you may have difficulty getting a proper depth of cultivation. I have a 4hp rotovator  which struggles on our clay soil. I have to use a long tine to get down to the depth I require (10"), otherwise it would just skim the top.
