The Bird of Paradise has done it again...
« on: September 11, 2007, 20:26:22 »
Here goes the next chapter in my Strelitzia reginae saga.

Due to the events of this year, and having the plant barricaded into a corner behind loads of evicted shed contents for several months, it didn't get watered much (about 4 times since March!) and lost about half its leaves. I only started trying to resuscitate it a couple of weeks ago, and it does look sorry for itself.

A week ago I spotted a telltale flower spike, much to my amazement given its treatment.

Today there's a second one. These things are virtually unkillable I reckon, once they've got to a decent size!!! I've only got three crowns on it, so if I get all three with flowers I'll be knockable with the proverbial feather. Two's got me gobsmacked as it is!
