Mistaken seedling. Correct id sought.
« on: June 14, 2007, 00:09:20 »
Last year I noticed a number of silvery-leaved seedlings growing in close proximity to a red campion so I hooked one out, potted it on and planted it out amongst the other flowers on the plot. Question is, What is it really?

I think it's Great Mullein; they're all over my plot as it's a 'weed' I'm rather fond of. Normally at this time they're being eaten to lacework by mullein moth caterpillars, and then recover later, but most of mine seem to have escaped this year. If I'm right, it'll shortly produce a tall narrow spike of yellow flowers.

When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"
