muddy chucks
« on: May 13, 2007, 21:30:11 »
had me chucks now about two months and the run has turned from mainly grass in to dirt etc , which is to be expected, have moved some fairly hardy plants into it to grow and give them some cover, but what do people normally use to keep thier chicken runs from turning in to the battle of the somme?

We contact a local tree surgeon and regularly get some shreddings from him.  He's very glad to let us have them as he has to pay to get rid of them at the tip!!

Our chickens love scratching around amongst them.  We cover the run quite thickly and in they dig down and make themselves nice dust baths.

It works well for us and it's free  ;D ;D

Linda.
