 ;D ;D ;D Lottie!

I'd love some borage, G.
I've got mini-carrots to swap - and I can ask my giant friend Mr C G Peruviana to deliver the seeds to your door.

LOL Lottie.

Hi Amazin', I'll pop them in the post with the Woodruff then.  And mini carrots?  Yay!   ;D

You CG still growing like mad eh?  I've just pinched the tips out of mine - 6 foot is enough I reckon!

Georgie

this is possibly a stupid question! but can you eat borage??

my lottie neighbour told me to use it in salads, but was not that convinced by the look of it (or by her)! I have it randomly growing on the lottie, self seeded everywhere..... if I can eat it I will, nothing is safe!!  :)

or - is it like comfrey - good for compost/ fertiliser, which I have also been told!

Hi daisymay.  Yes, you can eat the young leaves and use them in salads although I haven't tried them bacause the prickliness seems to upset my skin.  I do pick the flowers and use them in ice cubes though as they look so pretty in summer drinks.  I gather Borage is good for compost but as mine always seems to get nasty brown patches on the leaves (which I can't identify) I won't risk it.

Many thanks G, mini carrots in post to you.

I wouldn't say my CGs are well developed... but they've started demanding that I knock before entering the garden!

Re your nasty brown patches - is it patchy or spotty? If the latter, could it be rust, like you get on hollyhocks?

Oh Amazin', you do make me laugh!   ;D

Very patchy, atch.  I thought rust last year but don't think so.  And it's not sun scorch either.  Baffled.

I have some white borage, haven't seen it before, is this unusual?

BTW I have acres of the blue stuff and have never found a use for it!
