In a word, yes.
They flower in Spring, and crops are usually ready to harvest in late July.
This year, our tree was covered in flower, but we had a frost, and there is very little fruit.
The other thing to keep off the tree is the blackbird family. What fruit we do have is just turning from green to yellow (it is a black variety - Stella). The blackbirds are already taking what they can get at.
Whilst that may sound a bit doom and gloom, this year is going to be a very poor year, but in the 20+/- years we have had the tree we have had some extremely good years.
Good luck.
