what sand to use to mix with compost

Hi everyone, Ive never sown seeds before that required sandy compost & dont know what type of sand to use any advice most welcome.
Im planning to sow winter savory seeds

Normally the sand used in compost mixes is horticultural sand...but you  can use play sand...which is easier to get hold..or sharp sand....but if you were making ericaceous mix then horticultural sand would be best as it is definately ph neural..with any other mixes you are ok with play and shap sand.. ;)

Local builders yard ...ask for a bag of sharp sand....cheap and cheerful...wash it if you feel the need to do so...but thats what I've used for years..does me... ;)

I see you are referring to a seed compost so for this I use silver sand although I find kiln dried sand from B&Q as good as and a lot cheaper!

I use either sharp sand (ex builders yard) or grit for potting on  mixes.
