Topic: first show of the season

I entered the show in the next village last Saturday,
first for eighteen raspberries (glen Moy) best display of fruit in the show. A £5 voucher for the local garden centre
first for nine gooseberries (leveller)
first for a dish of blackcurrants (ben nevis)
first for a dish of red currants
third for a dish of any other fruit, (cherries)
first for three beetroot (boltardy from wilkinsons)
and finally third for any other vegetable (marrow)
I entered a pair of lettuce, but leaves started to drop off as they were lifted
so ,you can't win them all.

Sounds like you had your fair share of wins though!

Wish I could manage to enter a veg show :(.   I do not because mine does not look as neat as the entries I see being judged.  I don't think mine is good enough for any shows but it is good enough for the table so that'll have to do for me.
