Help with children's allotment
« on: February 19, 2008, 09:44:25 »
Hi,
I run an after school club and holiday club in Hewish, and we have an area that we have set aside for an allotment.
We have erected a small polytunnel, and still have room around it for planting, but now we need help.
Does anyone have time to help me and the kids get started?
We have funds set aside for tools, plants, seeds etc, but now need the know how from willing volunteers, as we have willing children and staff  :)
If anyone thinks they could help, please either email me ellie@brimblewood.plus.com or call me 01934 830458
Thanks
Ellie

Hi EllieF and welcome to the site,

This is the place to get all the advice you need, as there are a multitude of friendly, generous and very helpful experts on here, and they will be able to help with any questions you may have.

I would recommend that you post any questions you have relating to fruit and veg growing in the 'edible plants' forum as you will probably get the best response here.  I would also recommend you get a copy of 'the fruit and vegetable expert' by Dr Hessayon (although others will probably be able to recommend other titles.

Unfortunately I live approx 500 miles away and so will not be able to offer much in the way of practical help, but you have my best wishes for such a great project.

Steve

Seeds of Italy do seeds for schools at I think reduced rates check their web site and look under

Hi Saddad,
Hewish is near Weston Super Mare, junction 21 of M5, bit too far from Derby!  :(
