Nothing happening in the propagator
« on: February 28, 2008, 08:22:34 »
I put some leek seeds in my propagator approx 4 weeks ago and nothing has changed not a single one has shown any signs of life.  I  have it placed on my kitchen window sill from 7am till dusk. Does anybody have any ideas or tips on how i can get them to spring into life?  ???

How warm are they? I find leeks like a bit of heat to germinate some sort of hot bed is ideal.

The hot water cylinder would do providing you move them into the light once they germinate.

In conditions as I suggest I would expect germination in around 10 days.

I would move them!

I planted mine a few weeks ago, but there is a thread on here saying that they do take a long time to start sometimes over 4 weeks so I am going to wait a bit longer before I try re sow mine

When i do mine i cover with paper to elliminate the light as seeds germinate in the dark

When you wake up on a morning say "good morning world" and be grateful
