Freebie: Uchiki Kuri (onion squash) seeds
« on: October 25, 2008, 17:39:05 »
Hi everyone,

Due to trinity's largesse, I'm now sorted for next year's squash seeds... which means I have a fair few Uchiki Kuri seeds I now no longer need to trade. So if anyone wants me to send them some, please pm me!

(This is a freebie - no trade necessary. Although if anyone does have some spare courgette, squash (I have uchiki kuri, Crown Prince, and Kabocha - but always willing to try others!), cucumber, pumpkin, french bean or runner bean seeds, or even seed onions, that they don't want, then I wouldn't say no!)

Best wishes,
Stephen

Hello Stephen
What is Uchiki Kuri and where does the onion come into it? Is it a squash like many others but with an onion flavour?

They're called onion squash because they a smailar shape to onions, I think.
See here: http://www.sunriseseeds.com/images/squashuchikuri2.jpg

Uchiki Kuri is the (I think) Japanese name for them - no idea if it translates as 'onion squash' though (I doubt it somehow)!

I'd love some if there are any spare. I think I have some courgette and a couple of atlantic Giant pumpkin seeds if you'd like them in return.

Solorn,

Yes, I still have a few left... Thanks for the swap offer, but I think I'm all sorted now for courgette and pumpkin/squash (there's already a 6 varieties I'm trying for next year... although I must admit to be very tempted by Atlantic Giant - but I have to learn to fight such urges! There's always next year, and the year after that...). Just PM me your address, and I'll send them off in the next few days.

Best,
Stephen

Hi grandadg, saddad and portsmouth30,

Sorry - I've not checked this thread in a while. Thanks for the interest. My first lot of seeds have all gone now, but there's another of the squashes sitting in our kitchen waiting to be eaten. When it is (in the next few weeks), I'll be happy to send some. I'd be very glad of some cucumber and chilli seeds (grandadg), and some french beans (saddad) - thanks! Portsmouth30 - what variety of squash are they?

Anyway, pm me your addresses (plus anyone else who wants some), and Ill send you mine!

Best wishes,
Stephen

SSB, I don't need any onion squash, but I do have some Tromba d'albenga seeds if you're keen on squashes.  They last ages and look really silly!
