Can I plant again?
« on: May 06, 2005, 11:46:27 »
I have filled the area of the lottie I have dug  ;D but can I replant in the same places when I get my earlies and my onions dug up or should I leave this to rest and recover?  And if so - for how long.

The problem is that however keen OH is he just can't dig as fast as I can plant so think I might run out of space as the ground is starting to get too hard to dig up grass now.

I hope this will be the only time I will have this problem as I am determined to get the rest of the lottie up to scratch in autumn and early spring.

You can replant them. It's about making the most of the space. Really what you're aiming for is never having any empty space. As soon as something is whipped out, shove something else in!

Just make sure you add plenty of rotted manure or compost (where appropriate) and organic fertilisers.

and of course, don't plant the same family in the same space. Ie - no overwintering leeks after your onions.

I'm putting leeks in after the spuds and brassicas after the garlic.
gone to pot :D

If your early potatoes were clean, you should be OK following with a main crop.
