Wow Heldi, looks brilliant.  Have promised to take the children as soon as weather improves.

Did you have to queue for long to get in?

What are the entrance prices?

Roy - Its actually newly-build and is the brainchild of the duchess

of Northumberland. The water garden is also fab.

Well worth a visit if you live / visit the north-east ;)

Meant to add...

Unfortunately it isn't a national trust property.

WOWSER  :o  :o That is fantastic.  Reminds me of the Elves place in Lord of the Rings.
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

Hi!

No queues. Mind you I live close by and can go anytime. Haven't been in June/July.  Adults are charged £4 each. Children under 16 free.  That includes the whole of the garden so far. Theres loads of building going on and new features arriving all the time.

The tree house has been built since the last time I visited which was mid August last year. There is a restaurant which is fab inside. All dark with the sunlight casting shadows. Loads of twisted branches and a large fire! I took some pics but unfortunately didn't turn the flash off which spoils the effect. The chairs look like they are made from old distressed oak with high backs and they are dead heavy. You can get onto the tree house with pushchairs though we left ours outside the restuarant. There is wheelchair access too. Its brilliant,we imagined little sprites or imps running about! My seven year old loves it.

Even though I live in the North East I still haven't seen the water gardens there, and would love to see the tree  house which does look spectacular.  Hope perhaps this year we can bribe somebody to take us (no car people).  I do admire the Duchess of Northumberland for her work in creating something so fantastic, against some opposition.  :) busy_lizzie

Hi
That looks fantastic and my brother lives in Newcastle, is it near enough for a day trip?
I want to go in the treehouse, not just my children.
Thanks for showing us
Melanie

Alnwick Castle & Gardens, well worth a visit and not too far from Newcastle.  The Waterfalls are fantastic as well as the gardens, especially the roses in summer.  I have not seen the Tree House yet but hope to take in a visit this summer.

Thanks for taking a look everybody!  Most gardens and flower shows that are mentioned regularly and featured on tv are too far away for me so I thought I'd show a little of what the North East has got!  I might try to show some more pics of Northumberland gardens in the future.

Alnwick is a day trip from Newcastle. Straight up the A1. Takes about 40 mins.

OMG! It's VAST! When you mentioned you were going there I really didn't imagine the tree house to be that big!!! Do they want a lodger? I wish it was a bit closer to us but if we are ever up that way on holiday I know where I will want to visit!!!

Went to Alnwick Garden Tree House on Bank Holiday Monday.

The above pictures are good, but they do not do it true justice.

The tree house is impressive and has a restaurant which serves evening meals from May onward -£20 p.p. for two courses in beautiful surroundings.

The gardens are beautifully laid out and have a tactile water garden - all sorts of interesting sculptures spilling and spouting water -which all the children enjoyed ( towels and spare clothes recommended).

Children under 16 are free .
For £15, you can become a 'friend of Alnwick Garden' and get a years entry to the treehouse & gardens, which is money well spent in my humble opinion.

I would definitely recommend a visit if you are remotely near Northumberland.
