Swallows, housemartins and swifts all in the same week for me. And a cuckoo yesterday! Spring has sprung. And I'm between Donny and Barnsley....

Just 2 swallows spotted yesterday, in a place where there are normally dozens by this time.  :(

This website gives a bit of info on why swallow numbers may be in decline this year. http://www.bto.org/birdtrack/

 :D :D :D :D

I am a happy bunnie tonight.   One swallow has turned up at the nest in the corner of my house.  Its gone back and forward to it this evening, twittering away as they do.  Great, summer is on its way and the Swallows are back.

Still no sign of swallows in South Cheshire - but there are plenty of Swifts around and have been for the last 3 weeks or so - some of them are getting quite adventurous and flying very low over our garden, alomsot low enough to take the top of my head off!!!!

Hi Kitty, nice to hear you liked Whitley Bay.  The lighthouse is not too far away from where I live.  Have wanted to say for a while how much I love your paintings.  Hope you got some good inspiration from living near the coastline.  :) busy_lizzie

Me too Kitty ! ..........well, about 5 miles away.  Loved exploring the rock pools, in fact , still do when I'm up there !   ;D  I really miss the Northumberland coastline, especially the wild, rugged and unspoilt areas.  Wonderful !

At last the swallows have come back to Whitley Bay.  Saw some circling and swooping yesterday.  Lovely to see them , perhaps the weather will change for the better now. busy_lizzie

Swifts and housemartins arrived 2 weeks ago. They are busy feeding and house hunting now.
