Paper-pots MkII (6pics)
« on: May 06, 2005, 14:42:28 »
Pic's 1 & 2: Three pieces of plastic water pipe, 10mm long by 5mm wide. (My pic shows prototype of different lengths, ignore that.) Warm the top of one and form finger grips. Cut down the length of the other two and slide them over the first one.
Pic 3 shows how the device can be adjusted for longer pots.
Pic 4 & 5 is a broad-sheet paper torn into quarters lengthways. The long edge of each piece is foldeed over about 1/2" to give the pot a firm lip. Lay the pipe on the paper as shown and roll it all up. The last 2" of the ppper is glued just before completing the roll.
Pic 6 is the fisished pot. It slides out easily due to the smooth plastic piping.

i am actually using a loo roll inert to make small loo-roll diameter paper pots. roll the paper a little loosely around the pot, glue the edge, then fold in the surplus paper at the bottom, then i use the back of a wooden spoon to 'crunch' the paper flat while it's stood on a flat surface - i am prodding down the paper crunch from the inside, basically. then remove the loo roll - and repeat 35 times ::)

Svea: No need to flatten the inner fold; It compacts when you fill it.

Ken
I can understand pictures and words - but not too good with words on their own!

Your 6 (wonderful) pictures are all squares with red crosses in them, so they don't really go with the words  :D

Any chance that you could repost them, please? If not, could you please PM them to me.

Thanks

PhilandJan

No pictures are appearing, for me either  :(

But... All the Mark I paper pots are going great guns in the greenhouse, nurturing everything from french beans to sweetcorn. Thank-you!

OK! Got 'em. First 5 pic's are paper pots (Mk1) made using a bean tin. Cut off top (eat beans) and then cut off bottom.
Next batch is 6 pics (Pots MkII) using plastic piping, (read as above.) Get the info quick and pass it on before the pics disintergrate.....!
Any prob's, give me a shout.

Broad-sheet paper torn into quarters lengthways. (Tabloids will do, just tear the other way to give 2 pieces.) The long edge of each piece is foldeed over about 1/2" to give the pot a firm lip. Lay the pipe on the paper as shown and roll it all up. The last 2" of the ppper is glued just before completing the roll....well, as mentioned already above.
