Sunflower seeds big mistake
« on: March 15, 2023, 10:45:07 »
So I put some sunflower seeds and come peppers to chit in kitchen paper and hung in a plastic bag by the water tank.
I googled sunflower seeds and it said germination was 10 plus days.  So I left them for a week without checking.  They must have germinated in a few hours because, they were already an inch tall and the roots quite long and imbedded in the paper.  I do not think they will do well.
The peppers are perfect seeds with a tiny root, just really to transfer to some module trays.
I think I will have to start again with the sunflowers.  Note to self check every 24 hours.

I would seperate the roots if you can but leave the paper attached.
Plant and see what happens!

Thank you for encouraging me to save them.  I was all for just composting them.  But I planted out the best into a module tray and they have perked up a lot and yesterdays sunshine help green them up as well.   Some of the seedings already have very red stalks so I am hoping those might have red flowers.  Plants have such an ability to survive.
I am well pleased thank you.
