BONFIRE NIGHT
« on: November 12, 2022, 19:15:40 »
We have a couple of houses near our allotments, they do keep an eye out for us although it is a reasonably crime free area. In return we do not light fires and annoy them with the smelly smoke but once a year we all get together and have a big burn up on one of the plots. My turn this year so with a few drinks, sausages and cakes we have a bit of fun. Should have been last week but it was a tad wet and windy. Anyway we also all clubbed together and purchased a few fruit trees for a community orchard so we had the planting ceremony today as well. They were originally 'plant a tree for the jubilee' but  as things turned out they were planted in rememberance. I'll get the morris dancers to wassail them on twelth night  to ensure good crops,  bur really for more cake, drink and sausages.
