can anyone please help me
i have inherated a load off rubarb with our new plot and was wondering
HOW DO YOU SPLIT THEM as i have been told they need doing
as we have quite a lot and they have not been

just put the spade straight through the middle

what then re plant in a bit more space
will that make a better crop next year

Hi Waggi, when I dug my allotment found this dark horrible root in the soil. Chucked it in the trench as waste. Along came my neighbour, informed me the black mass was in fact rhubarb. I had already chopped it into smaller bits in the trench. He picked up the pieces said it'll grow. Low and behold I have 6 new rhubarb plants shooting in a nice tidy row. So I'm sure it doesn't really matter what you do to it, just plonk it back into the ground after splitting it. Cover it with manure and wait..
