Shalotts
« on: August 03, 2017, 16:17:02 »
I have grown shallot Figaro from seed bought from T&M for the 2nd year. Last year I planted the  seedlings out after growing them in the greenhouse at home individually this year I planted them in modules of about 4 to a module. Last year they were like normal banana shallot size this year they are massive almost like onions. I do not think that they will keep long and I am planning on changing variety to Zebrune next year.
I changed from setting Longor sets to Figaro seeds because of the expense of sets and the disappointing results over the last couple of years. In the past I have been able to save some of my larger Longor sets to set the following year but for the past couple of years they have not kept well enough to do that.
