Sowing broad beans now?

If broad beans can be son in spring, autumn and winter, why not summer? I'm sure there's a good reason, but just asking because I don't seem to have as many plants as I thought and have only picked a few pods so far.

You could give it a go. They'll probably come up, although if it's dry they will either need to be kept well watered until they germinate. One problem might be that they will be young and tender while the blackfly are at their peak which could damage the plants before they even flower.

I have sown broadbeans mid June and they have done very well. I planted some one year where there was couch grass. Wanted to grow something I could easily weed and how round I had a good crop.

I always sow any of the bean family late so that we are picking until the frost kills the plant. Our big problem at the moment with broad beans is that the badgers have got the taste and keep coming back. We have tried many methods of stopping him but no luck as yet.
