Celeriac + Good King Henry
« on: March 28, 2005, 22:21:37 »
Anyone got a part of their lottie going spare this season? I've a packet of Good King Henry (chenopodium bonus henricus)."Large arrow shaped leaves & tiny green/yellow flowers on thick branched stems" - the leaves cook like spinach & the shoots like asparagus" - apparently :P Bought them as a curiosity last year but haven't room in my garden now.

And I've half a packet of celeriac Balder if anyone wants.

What I'd really really like are a few cucumber seeds - never grown them before - you reckon two plants will do me?

How many seeds in the packet of celeriac? Everyone on this site keeps raving about it so I fancy giving it a try. Only really have space for about 10 or so seeds though.
I have some burpless tasty green cukes that you could have a few of in return  :)

Moggle - who swore that she wasn't going to do any more swaps this year  ;D
Lottie-less until I can afford a house with it's own garden.

Alishka,

If there are plenty of celeriac seeds, I would like just a few, as I tasted celeriac for the first time yesterday and would like to try and grow some.

Right-o, will PM you both, and thanks for the offer of the cuke seeds Moggle :)

So...unusual herbs...anyone going to try the Good King Henry? From the lit. on the back of the packet the plants were used in Germany to fatten poultry, hence it's alternative name of Fat Hen...any chook owners interested? ;D
