Plums
« on: August 28, 2014, 17:44:28 »
Since I told my plum tree, that hasn't produced for years I would dig it up, it has done brill this year.  Have made plum jam and now will try to make plum sauce, as I have some duck in the freezer.  Anyone got any easy and good recipes for me.  Thanks a lot.  Have made plum and raspberry jam, as too many raspberries.  It has been a good year.  :sunny: :sunny:

I'm a lover of chutneys to eat with cold meats and cheese
You could try this Plum Chutney

500g red plums
2 shallots
1tblsp olive oil
100ml white wine vinegar
3 tblsp water
1 cinnamon stic
2 star anise
100g demerara sugar

1. Cut the flesh off the plumsand roughly chop
2. Place the chopped shallots in pan with olive oil and saute gently for 5 mins
3. Add the plums, vinegar, water cinnamon, star anise and sugar. Stir until sugar dissols then simmer for for 15 mons until softened and thickened
4. Spoon chutney into warmed jars and seal
