Topic: Pruning tools for people with hand disabilities?

I have  had operations on both my hands over the past year. They are now really weak and painful. I am told they may not improve much. I am having a few problems in the allotment. One of them is that I cannot get enough pressure with my secateurs on when trying to chop stems. Has anyone got any advice that might help me?

I've worked/gardened with people with disabilities for a number of years and have a large range of secateurs now - the easiest I find for those with weaker hand operation is the ratchet ones; the best and easiest of the lot is the Yeoman Easy Cut Ratchet secateurs - the green ones.

I too have difficulties with secateurs as I have arthritic hands and cannot grip very much.  I am all right at dead heading roses but when it comes to cutting anything thicker, I use telescopic anvil loppers and find them much easier.
