Tesco bass
« on: January 08, 2014, 14:41:29 »
OH and I went into Tesco yesterday and a large display poster above the fresh fish showed bass at £2.99 for a kg.  We asked the assistant to confirm the price, which she did.  We picked out 4 large ones and when she put them on the scales to print the ticket, they came out as £11.96, weighing 1.45kg .  We said that something was wrong as at £2.99 a kg they should be less than £4.50.  She called the fish department manager to sort it out.

It turned out that the poster had been printed incorrectly.  He said he would abide by the price shown on the poster, but the weighing and pricing machine would only accept the bass in multiples of £2.99.  The only thing he could do was to let us have them all for the price of 1 kg.  At 75p each they were a bargain.

He didn't take the poster down whilst we were there so it's just possible that the posters are still being displayed in all their stores up and down the country, so if any of you fancy some cheap bass, you might try popping into your local Tesco.
