My New Plot
« on: December 12, 2013, 12:50:07 »
As some of you may know I have decided to cut back on my growing area and in doing so I have been doing a bit of swapping with my neighbours.

They have have been working a 'half' plot for the last few years and wanted to up-size to a 'full' plot but the waiting list is 'years' so I decided to give them one of my 'full' plots in exchange for their half plot.

I suggested we make this arrangement at the back end of the season rather than at the end of the year so that we could move any plants we wanted to take with us prior to the onset of winter.

I then had to set about kicking their plot into the shape I wanted and it has been quite hard work as 'sods law' applied as my layout meant I was placing new beds on what was paths and paths on what were beds.

The digging on the path line was bl**dy hard work and the old beds had to be dug down to subsoil or else I would have paths like 'paddy fields'

Well to cut a long story short this is how it looks now;

Looking up the plot from the compost heap;

Looking down the plot towards the compst heap;

I have also made up my planting plan for next year and I have found out the plot is more like 70% of a plot rather than half so in effect I have only lost one bed.

Plus I have gained a new Raspberry bed (behind the five bar gate)

So now it is ready for 2014
