Big school for Ivor
« on: September 16, 2013, 19:46:33 »
Hello All,

Ivor left for Big school at Leamington today to train as a guide dog.
The house is somewhat quiet. Think I need another Pup to make some noise...lol

Hello daveyboi & squash64,

It's been a very quiet morning. Need to keep myself busy, but it's times when you stop for
a cup of tea when you start thinking about him. Heard from guide dog staff this morning
that he didn't eat all his food last night, but he woofed it down him this morning so he's
feeling ok now, bless him.

I've been a puppy walker for guide dogs since 2009. Had three pups so far. The last pup I had qualified not so long ago.
He now lives with a lady in Warwickshire.

It's such a lovely thing to do Gertie.  Have you got a dog of
your own as well?

Hello Squash64,

No I don't have a dog of my own. Used to have a chocolate coloured Labrador many years ago,
but it hurt so much when he passed away.
By puppy walking for guide dogs I don't have to go through the heartache of losing them.
I still have phone calls from guide dog staff to let me know how he's doing.

My own two dogs are 14 and 16 now and we will really miss them
once they have gone.  I would love another dog afterwards, but I don't
think it's right at my age to take on another long-term commitment.
Puppy walking seems a good alternative to me, but I know my husband
wouldn't agree because he wouldn't want to give the dog up.

It must be hard giving them up, but so worth while.   But hopefully you will have another one to look forward to.
