You've seen the shed, now there is a new project..!
« on: June 03, 2013, 19:30:28 »
You might remember my clever carpenter OH promised me a new garden shed for our garden at home for my 50th birthday pressie, but of course having built the log cabin shed for the lottie the bar was set pretty high.......but two years on(!) it is finally finished....meet the barn!

If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

I wish I could say it is as pretty on the inside, but same as my lottie shed it is built for use as a shed, so at the moment is stuffed to the gills with all my pots, propagators and mini greenhouses which I use for extra shelving. There is a large wide shelf at head height which runs the length of the rear wall, so all my modules and pot holders go on that, then either side at the eaves there are wide hooks which store my canes and plant supports horizontally, and a series of push in tool holders where the forks and rakes hang out of the way. The greenhouse looks empty in comparison now, as for the last two years I have had use that as both a storage shed and a greenhouse, with racks of pots left in the garden in the summer!

If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

My husband built it from scratch on site to his own design to fit the space and preexisting concrete base we had. We looked at lots of barn type designs for ideas then adapted them, for example the doors are extra wide to get lawn mower and wheelbarrows out comfortably. He built the frame first, clad the sides and roof, painted it then it was shunted Into the final position because we knew we would never get to paint it properly if it was right in the corner. The windows in the front bythe doors are old Art Deco ones we fancied adding in, the top one he made to fit.

He is a clever bloke, I had to forgive him taking two years to finish it as the end result was so good! I can't blame him for not wanting to do his 'day job' at home even if the results are worth nagging for... Now what else can I challenge him to build......? :tongue3:
