Advertisements for ladies
« on: January 26, 2013, 17:14:22 »
I have suddenly started getting banner advertisements for ladies with rather suggestive pics.  Does anyone know how to get rid of them?

If you click in the symbol on the top right of a google image ad, you can then go to ad preferences and change them.

I would ask what web sites you have been visiting to make google think you would like to see such ads, but as google seems to think I am a 65 year old woman rather than a 47 year old bloke, I think I need to ask how they have come to that conclusion.
If there's nothing wrong with me, maybe there's something wrong with the universe!

I kep getting 'mature women', there's some rough old sorts being pictured. If my dog had a face like one of them I would shave it's  @rse and teach it to walk backwards.

Thanks Crispy clicked on the offending ads and deselected the whole list I was offered.  Now luckily back to greenhouses, sports shoes and holidays.  The system seems to think I live in Milton Keynes and am male.

I have had the mature women as well or perhaps it was ACE's dog.

I have also put on the parental choices I am sure my mother would not have approved of what I have been offered. :toothy10:

The only out of the ordinary websites I have been visiting recently have been to do with genetics.  Have to admit one asked me about parently preferences and I clicked on ignore, I think the new ads must have started then.  I am not clear why an interest in mutations in X chromasomes is taken to mean I  might want to jump into bed with some dame.

If you use a browser like Chrome or Firefox then you can install the adblock plugin.  Then you see virtually no ads at all.
However advertising does help to run the site so it's a mixed bag really.

Dan once said that the "Mature Women" ads paid very well so I clicked on the ad a couple of times.  d**n things followed me around the web for ages..

I suppose if it keeps the A4A site up and running it is ok with me.

But Facebook is very invasive, I do not want my contacts to think I 'like' mature ladies in MK.

Go into the preference of the browser you are using and block all all pop-ups.

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy job done.

Blocking pop-ups (which is normally on by default) does very little to stop adverts which are generally inline with the the rest of the page's content.  All the ads we see fund the sites they are on (and of course Google) and they need clicks - there is no point in putting your ad in a pop up becasue most people will never see it.

If you cant stand the ads then use FF or chrome with Adblock - never see an ad again..

She must have a bike as she certainly gets around. She was down this way last week.

Still cannot get rid of her.  Tried everything.   Opted out of ads but she is still on her bike.

In some ways I feel very left out of these things as we rarely ever get offered anything. Mind we do have Adblock plus and DoNotTrack on Firefox so perhaps they help.

Just google for some new bike clips, but don't make Digeroo's mistake and ask for 'sexy bike clips', you will soon be in the loop :happy7:
