Jeannine pm'ed me last week and I hope she will not mind me sharing a little, although I'm sure she will be along to answer more when she can.
They have moved into the new house, though still a bit of unpacking to do. A few complications have made it a difficult time for Jeannine and she hasn't had a chance to be about on the forum. I've not got her new address as yet and if anyone has messaged her I'm sure she will reply just as soon as things settle down a bit.

Sorry to hear she is having a rough patch. Come back Jeannine, we love you!  Hope your new place is a sweet one, and all the season's greetings to you.

Just the thought of moving makes me feel tired.   However carefully you plan there are always complications.

I hope you can find your way to joining us again Jeannine.

Hi gang, we are both alive and kicking, thanks Jay for messaging for me, so here is the scoop.

Saturday moving day had to be postponed as I was not up to it, second moving day came around and John was taken in to hospital, his waterworks refused to work.. anyway he is OK now he has had prostrate surgery and is currently tinkling like a ten year old, so all is well on that score. Still awaiting biopsy results though.

Sadly his Alzheimer's took a very sudden dive which I was not expecting and he had deteriorated, it has levelled off but suffice to say his driving days are over and he has agreed now to accept specialist help which is just being set up. My own Dr, explained to me that it is not uncommon, this is one of the reasons we decided to move..

We have moved into our daughters home. She has had this planned for years. She has a very big house with a parents suite on the ground floor. We have our own entrances, 3 bedroom and office, open plan kitchen, dining room and living room, 2 bathrooms and a patio that is the full width of the house and about twenty feet deep so lost of space. She and her husband have the top two floors which is huge. There is also a brand new bungalow on the property which was bult for my son in laws mother but she had to be moved into a care facilty just befor ut was completed. It is lovelky but just 1 bedroom so we chose the suite for the space. I think we should use it for tourists but we haven't decided so it sits there brand new and empty.

Our place is lovely and very spacious, the gardens are landscaped and very cultured so we have turned down the offer of raised beds and have decided for now to keep our community gardens however.................

We are planning to move again as my son in law retires shortly and we have all decided we want to be back on acreage so we are looking for a property with similar features to the one we have now or two houses on one which is not uncommon her..then I can have all the greenhouse space I like plus some chucks so we are excited about that.  My daughter and I are planning to keep a couple of minature donkeys and a goat or two so we need a paddock .This house is beautiful though, just 6 years old so it is going to be hard to find a good replacement without building. My son in law is a classic car collector and wants more space to indulge his love.

I am finally driving again..three cheers.

This house is very busy as we now have visiting grandchildren and great grandchildren plus a crazy little dog that see me as a new food provider.

We have also bought a cat.. he is a shaded silver Persian and very affectionate.

So life is pretty much on the level again.

My new e mail addy is on my profile I think( I will check)

I hope everyone is well and looking forward to a very great gardening year. I should be around more now all is peaceful again  whew!!

God bless you all for your kindness and support, Merry Christmas to you all

With love

XX Jeannine

Lovely to hear from you.   Moving certainly did not suit my mother when she got dementia.  But it sounds as if you have got a nice place.  The garden sounds nice.

Do have a great Xmas.

Lovely to hear from you Jeannine and that things are more-or-less back on an even keel. Your new home sounds lovely but I hope you haven't unpacked everything if you may soon be on the move again!

It must give you a great feeling of security being with your family.

Hope you have a wonderful family Christmas and that the coming year will be good to you and yours!

love Tricia xx

Hi Jeannine,

so good to hear from you.  The new residence sounds just splendid.  Good you got there ok in the end and great that there is help for you.

I don't know whether it applies to John, but (and this was all news to me) when my father had a recent operation to set a complicated fracture and another shortly after to fit a pacemaker to try and stop further falls and injuries, he was quite confused afterwards.  He hasn't actually been given the alzheimers diagnosis, but we were wondering.  The doctors said that with elderly people there is frequently mental confusion and loss of memory following a general anaesthetic, but that it is usually temporary.  My father has definitely picked up now and is getting to be more and more like his former self.  John has the illness and always will (sadly), but if the sudden deteriation has anything to do with the operation, then there might be a chance of some recovery.

As I said, this was all news to us - maybe you could run it past your docs and see what they say.  Don't want to give you any unwarranted hope and every case is different, but please ask your doctor.  Also fingers crossed for the lab results.

Wish you both and family a very happy Christmas time.  Enjoy the company of your family. xx Galina

Thanks again folks,

Galina, Johns' dive came before the surgery  about 8 weeks before actually, it did come as we were packing though.
