Ants in composter

I hadn't the heart to knock it down and turf them out, they'd taken so long to construct it, their wings are developed so they'll be off soon.

i disturbed a nest of ants in my veg plot under a brick which was holding down the netting over my brassica. There were hundreds of large eggs and the poor ants were desperately trying to move them to safety, within 10 minutes they had disappeared and I could not for the life of me have destroyed them. I have never come across any damage on my plot caused by ants. On the contrary I have seen them dispose of caterpillars, vine weevil and I am sure many more pests.

I go after them with a vengeance and no mercy I'm afraid... little sods are always farming aphids on my stuff... this year they even attacked the cherry tree....  My normal method of dealing with them is to surround vulnerable crops with ant-bait stations..., but if I find a nest while digging it gets powdered....

I just leave them alone. I get aphids like everyone else, but it's very rarely that I've seen them do any damage.
