Kale "Pentland Brig"
« on: January 28, 2012, 07:27:53 »
I am planning to grow some Kale this year and have read good reports about the variety "Pentland Brig".

However, I can't seem to find any supplier who are selling the seeds this year !

Anyone know where I can get some... or does anyone have any spare that they will swap with me ?

Chase Organics are supposed to be one of the main suppliers, but it's not in their 2012 catalogue.  ???

These guys have the seeds (and presumably later on the plants) http://www1.vegplugs.co.uk/categories/Seeds/Kale-Seeds/

Vegetable Plants Direct is a supplier that we know and like, and they'll have plants available later http://www.vegetableplantsdirect.co.uk/ourshop/prod_1717505-Kale-Pentland-Brig-.html

My old packets are from Kings seeds..sold under Borecole not KaleI've and from Thomas Etty. I'm sure at least one of those will still have it.
Sorry..I can only supply possible suppliers as I only have tiny pinch left for myself.

These people say they have it:

I checked Kings and Thomas Etty. Neither seems to have any.  :(

Many thanks for all of your help with this one.  It has been very much appreciated.

I tried vegplugs, but, for some reason, kept getting the message that they couldn't supply the seeds to my country... which is a bit strange as I live in UK !   It's probably a computer glitch, so I e-mailed them to let them know.

Being a 'sow-my-own' man,  I have not checked out sites selling plants.

Wallis Seeds came up trumps !  I was not aware of their site before and was impressed with what they have on offer at very reasonable prices.  So I bought some "Pentland Brig" seed along with some "Dwarf Green" Kale and some "Brussels Witloof" Chicory as I am planning to have many more crops growing through the  Winter months.
