My friend sent my this photo.
Anyone know what may have caused this- she grows organically but I wondered abut herbicide contamination?

That is odd, never seen this before. Is it only one affected?

It does look a little like a weed-killer has been near it....

As Star says, is it the only one like it?

Red ants?

Sounds daft but if they are nibbling away underneath.... may have sapped its...strength?

Just the one flower like this.
Ive had a PM from one member about interruption to growth cycle.
I wondered if we might get odd flowers/ plant growth due to the stop/ start weather patterns. Like last autumn when it was so warm?

That would make good sense...

I'm pretty sure I have seen the odd few BB that look skinny and bedraggled in a similar way. We have a masswhossive patch along the track (the wild bit). I tend to stay clear as it's full of red ants... Doesn't get a decent share of rain (in normal times) so the ants love it.

That's what made me wonder if the little red devils might have had something to do with it.

Alternatively might it have flowered early and be slowly drying out and snuffing it?

I don't think it is weedkiller as many more plants would be affected. 

It could be from a small bulb that isn't quite big enough to flower properly.
