Raised Bed
« on: February 20, 2005, 22:12:11 »
This is a pic of a raised bed on a communal allotment (well it would be if there were any volunteers)  Last year this bed produced a mountain of produce and was easy to weed and maintain.  The height is brill for less abled gardeners (like me since I did my back) and for disabled people as well.  We grew on this bed courgettes, squashes, leeks, dwarf beans, two lots of spinach, 2 lots of beetroot, red onion, spring onion, ordinary onion, giant onion, giant leek, 2 lots of garlic, cabbage, parsley for the welldressing folk, and other stuff which I've forgotten.  It'll come to me.    So successful was it that we've built another one.  I say we when I mean us, eg a local in bloom group.  We lso inherited a skeleton polytunnel which we used to grow squashes and runner beans up and it was very successful.  We had a sale and all the money raised goes to pay for plants etc for the next floral display in our town.

I will take some more pics of the raised beds as we go
