I like growing tall peas, Alderman were good. Last year I grew these lovely purple ones - http://www.mr-fothergills.co.uk/seeds-plants-gardening/14950/peas-blauwschokker-round-seeded-variety

For me too - taste wise (and a good crop) I like Hurst Green Shaft

Ditto adn seconded, but I'm wondering if it#'s worth chasing down some Ne Plus Ultra and giving them a go... they were a favourite before WW1 for their tsate adn they're apparently both rampant and robust...... the no-no for the commercial boys is that they crop over a long period making machine harvesting impossible... Mightr put them on the lsit for 2013 as I've got both ALderman and Telefono to have a go with this year...

You can get Ne Plus Ultra here:

It's a good pea, but there are others I prefer.

So do I, but the big plus with Ne Plus Ultra (sorry) is that they do much better in hotter weather than Magnum bonum.

I might have to seek out some  "dorian" seeds. it was after all the name of the road I grew up in.
