Happy Outcome! Chickens Alive
« on: November 09, 2011, 12:51:42 »
Oops having slagged off foreigners I found my two chooks in their house when I went home from work.  They were cuddled up together in one nest box.

I had searched the garden and surrounding area for them for over half an hour and there was no sign no sound nothing.  My friend from over the road came over to help.  They must have been terrified by something - possibly a buzzard or seagull and had completeley vanished and didn't make a peep.  Clever animals but I searched and searched for them and there was not a glimmer of life!

So thanks for all your kind words people - I feel a bit silly now - jumping to conclusions but they had completely disappeared!

Old Bird  ::) ;D

Ohthat is SOOOO good ;D ;D ;D
no-one on here will mind we are jsut glad your chucks are ok.
Until not so long ago people in this country killed seabirds for meat and took their eggs, a lot of time it is just culture, not inherent badness.
People think I'm mad cos we eat road kill (some , fresh I hasten to add)

Ahh..happy ending after all.. ;) ;D
With that note I shall tell little story that was on Finnish newspaper this autumn.
'Old' foxy paid visit on somebody's yard where chickens were about. Their garden is on sea shore..foxy got all the stupid chickens that were running around trying to get away..it got into the coop and did the 'head count' there too.. :-X All but one chicken survived..this one chicken ran into sea and flapped away as far as non-duck can go.
Neighbouring chap was on his boat and saw the commotion..fox tried to chase the last chicken but it didn't want to get its paws wet.. ;D So the neighbour rescued the chicken from water and what a lucky and clever little thing it was.. ;) ;D
